Nico was born and raised in Tucson and spent most of his time out and about in the Sonoran Desert exploring the ever-shifting washes south of town. After graduating from the University of Arizona he spent four years in the world of ecological genetics in Helsinki, Finland, and Los Angeles before deciding a life outside the lab was more satisfying. He joined AmeriCorps in 2020 and worked in the wilderness surrounding Prescott before accepting jobs in the Northern Rockies with the U.S. Forest Service. He is thrilled to be returning to Arizona to help conserve and improve our trail systems. When he’s not in the field Nico can be found buried in a history book or with his partner and dog attempting a zany new recipe for a delicious meal.
