Once again, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the Trump Administration dishes up another blow to wildness, human health, and environmental justice. This story is starting to sound like a broken record, right?!
On April 23rd the Nuclear Fuel Working Group released a report… and what’s inside? Proposals that give uranium mining the go ahead in the Grand Canyon region and on other public lands, and WITHOUT environmental review or public input. Southwestern peoples and landscapes are no strangers to the toxic legacy of uranium mining; we are well aware of the uranium industry’s disregard for our waters, lands, and health.
The report only elevates the need to pass the Grand Canyon Centennial Act, which rests in the Senate and proposes the permanent withdrawal of >1 million acres of public lands around Grand Canyon.
